WOZZECK Amsterdam production THE PITS Eventually I began always making "covers" for my collection of cartoons that were to be presented to my colleagues. ( Copies were also made for the chorus, assistants, backstage crew .. the lot. ) I sometimes enjoyed the covers the most because it gave me a focused chance to be artistic, and try to say in one panel what the whole production was about. I often try to make a cover that somehow puts elements of each cast member's character into the picture. For some reason for WOZZECK there were two covers. The first cover was in the end for me too dark and "artsy." It ended up as a "back" cover. I settled for the second cover which had more humor and depicted the feel of the entire cast more accurately. Wolly Gussmann's set consisted of black houses. Many black houses of different sizes. I decided to go with the obvious.
