GENTILE OPERA PRODUCTION CARTOONS

I PAGLIACCI

BAJAZZO GUIDE

GEORGE TABORI STAGE DIRECTION MAP

1 - Florian Prey was encouraged to use method acting to fully develop his character. Unfortunately George forgot that he had nailed up Florian and left him there for the weekend. In the end, George decided that Florian better served the role hanging just where he was.

2 - Hans Zauner, our conductor, was a good man. The audience however disagreed with his tempi.

3 - The famous "red chicken blood" that George had us spilling everywhere began to take on a life, and mind of it's own. The Vienna health inspector who originally told us that using this stuff would never be allowed has never been found.

4 - Esmarelda was the chicken who shared the stage with us. Reinhardt Brussman was the tenor who shared something with Esmarelda. The egg he is dropping here may be his only sole heir to inherit the broken mandolin on his head.

5 - Brussman would always find where a drop of chicken blood was spilled. ( Had this thing for chickens .. in case you missed that) The mandolin he wore on his head was no accident. He called this his "portable acoustic machine."

6- That's Georgey Dihel in the back. He always fought with Tabori over every direction, every movement. Tabori eventually decided to show him the ropes.

7- Ewa Izykowska was a yound attractive blonde polish girl. She had two roles in our production. One .. the obvious one .. was taking care of Esmarelda while at the same time singing Nedda. The other was being Tabori's partner during all the "games" that we played during rehearsal.

8 - That's me. Chairs had a major role in this production. I also slipped on some chicken blood right after my big aria "Vesti la giubba." Believe me, I was crying on the inside .. AND the outside!

9 - This guy was looking for the toilet.

10 - Handy the puppet. The true star of this production. Cousin to Kirmet, star of many a five fingered epic.
